Smart outdoor faucet
Every winter, many owners of houses and cottages, as well as employees in
the maintenance of public areas, encounter problems related to the freezing of
outdoor faucets and the damage caused by them. The most common way to avoid these problems is to drain the water and close the tap, which ultimately means the inability to use water in the winter.
IWT patented a new solution in response to the problems of freezing and cracking of external faucets. The non-freezing outdoor faucet, apart from its uniqueness in terms of functionality in all weather conditions, also attracts attention with its design and fits extremely well into any environment.
The faucet is available in two models:
The push lever model
The push lever model is an external faucet with a mechanical frost protection system that works on the principle of self-drainage. Pressing the lever opens the valve and the water flows out as long as the lever is held in the lower position with the hand. By releasing the levers, it returns to its initial position and the water stops flowing and the tap is automatically emptied into the drain, releasing about 1.5 dl of water remaining in the pipe. This type of faucet is ordered mainly by managers of public areas as they are suitable for cemeteries, parks and similar public places.
The rotating wheel model
The rotating wheel model is an external faucet with a mechanical frost protection system based on the principle of self-drainage. By turning the wheel, the water begins to flow depending on the degree of rotation of the wheel. The water flows continuously until the wheel turns to its initial position, at which point the remaining water (1.5 dl) is automatically drained and the tap remains empty. This type of faucet has a spout that can be rotated and removed if necessary, and a rubber hose for washing or watering can be installed instead. This faucet is suitable for private yards, farms or companies that need to wash vehicles or equipment.
Operating conditions for both models of non-freezing taps are temperatures down to -30 ° C and pressures from 0.5 to 5.0 bar. For pressures higher than 5.0 bar, a pressure regulator must be installed.
Faucets are made of stainless steel AISI 304. For coastal areas, a version of the faucet with stainless steel AISI 316 is available.
No special knowledge or tools are required to install the faucet, and it can be installed by any qualified plumber according to the instructions that come with the product. It is installed directly on the water pipe with a standard 1/2 ” connection. The total height of the faucet is 1600 mm while the height above the ground is about 800 mm. The height of the faucet above ground level depends on the depth of the water pipe on which the installation is performed. The minimum required depth is 60 cm. The diameter of the outer tap pipe is 40 mm.
